Breakfast with Santa
Contributed by: Joan Grasty on 12/17/2007

Twas ten days before Christmas and all through the Y,
Children were gathering hoping to spy
A glimpse of Santa Claus as he made his way
To a holiday breakfast at the YMCA!!

On Saturday, December 15th, over 50 children accompanied by their parents assembled in the Camarillo Family YMCA gym which was gaily decorated with evergreen garlands, twinkling lights, poinsettias and, of course, a beautiful Christmas tree. Santa was front and center in a comfy chair flanked by two large toy wooden soldiers, while giggling and wiggling children awaited their turns to visit.

As sounds of Christmas carols filled the air, the children sat on Santa's lap and whispered their Christmas wishes in his ear. Their parents busily snapped photos and a Polaroid photo was also taken by the Y photographer. Then the kids got to make a special holiday frame for the photo as well as create a jingle bell necklace or assemble a cheery elf to take home. A continental breakfast of hot chocolate, juice, fruit, bagels with cream cheese and croissants was enjoyed by all and everyone went home full and happy to await a visit from Santa on Christmas Eve.

The Camarillo Family YMCA would like to thank Darryl Sobelman from the Kiwanis Club who made Santa's special visit possible, Starbucks for the yummy hot chocolate and Hagle Tree Farm for the beautiful Christmas tree.

The Camarillo Family YMCA is located at 3111 Village at the Park Drive in Camarillo. For information about future events or membership, please call (805)484-0423 or visit www.ciymca.org.

This was just another one of the great events the Camarillo Y puts on. The decorations were set to the theme of Nightmare Before Christmas and Santa definately brought his "A" game! I love my Y!
