There was excitement in the air on Friday, December 14th, at the Camarillo Family YMCA, as seats were quickly filled by people eager to be entertained by the best of Camarillo. The stage was set with twinkling lights, festive props and a microphone ready to be put to use. Then the room darkened, and the Camarillo Family YMCA Holiday Talent Show was underway.
Participants ranging from the ages of 4 to 27 years of age took to the stage, singing, dancing and playing instruments. The audience- a crowd of proud parents, siblings, friends and community members- sipped hot chocolate, courtesy of Starbucks, as they enjoyed the performers showcasing their gifts.
"The abilities of these children are amazing," said Keith M., community member. "It's so impressive that not only do they have the talent, but that they aren't afraid to get on stage and perform."
Camarillo Family YMCA Holiday Talent Show participants included energetic hip-hop dancers, a violinist, a keyboardist, the Mariachi Sol Huasteco band, and singers belting out a range of music from current pop songs to old favorites.
"We are very pleased with this year's Holiday Talent Show," says Brett Lane, Youth Program Director at the Camarillo Family YMCA. "The talent was top-notch and the audience turnout was great! We are looking forward to next year's talent show already!"
The evening was capped off with a raffle of items donated by community businesses, such as Play it Again Sports, Camarillo Bike Company, Presto Pasta, Lazerstar and Olas Mexican Restaurant.
