What:	NEXT › ‹ PREVIOUS Come to an information session on November 27th to learn about becoming an AmeriCorps volunteer for the Adult Literacy Program. The meeting will be in the Adult Learning Center room at the Camarillo Library from 6 -7:30 PM. There you can ask questions, talk to AmeriCorps members, meet the literacy staff, pick up an application and arrange an interview. The Ventura County Library Reading Program for Adults is looking for one adult who would like to serve as an AmeriCorps volunteer for the prgram in 2008. The Reading Program for Adults provides FREE one-to-one tutoring to English speaking adults who need assistance with reading, writing, spelling, or want to pass the GED. The AmeriCorps members serving the Reading Program for Adults can expect a rewarding and varied volunteer experience. The range of activities could include tutoring, organizing fund raising events, clerical / office tasks, planning / implementing Family Literacy programs, event planning, staffing public awareness booths at community events, assisting adults in a computer lab as well as many other possibilities. The requirements for applying are that you: Are 18-125 years old High School Diploma or GED Drivers's License / Ability to drive anywhere in Ventura County Must have wheir own car and insurance Part time 20 hours per week / 1 year commitment Fingerprint / livescan Some weekend and evening hours Benifits include: Job experience / training opportunities / community contacts $2500 education voucher at end of service year Living allowance of $480 (before taxes) per month Mileage = .485 per mile If you have anymore question call us at 805-641-4484.
