2008 Labor Law Update for Local Employers

LOCAL EMPLOYERS TO LEARN LATEST ISSUES AFFECTING
LABOR LAW FOR 2008

OXNARD, Calif.-Local business owners can learn about labor law updates for 2008 at a seminar hosted by the East Ventura County Employer Advisory Council, 8 a.m.-noon, Nov. 15. Jonathan Fraser Light of Ventura County's largest law firm, Nordman Cormany Hair & Compton LLP, is the guest speaker at the half-day seminar at The Palm Garden Hotel, 495 N. Ventu Park Rd., Thousand Oaks.

"The laws governing labor in California change quickly and often," Light said. "It's important for employers to know and understand these changes to avoid potential problems."

Topics include FMLA and forced use of vacation, "learned professional" exemption changes, expansion of meal break penalties, arbitration and class action, immigration safe harbor/injunction, travel time pay, new discrimination cases and sex harassment avoidance training update.

Cost for the seminar is $75 for reservations received by Nov. 9, or $85 at the door. Breakfast is included.
