Food and Funds needed for FOOD Share, Inc. to help

Needy Families in Ventura County

Oxnard-The holidays and the rest of the year for 38,000 Ventura County individuals and families will be a little brighter because Ventura County residents are encouraged to donate nutritious food up until December 24, 2007. By filling the yellow barrels and PODS outside of VONS Markets with donated food, the community helps FOOD Share feed our residents. Sandy Bishop, President and CEO, expressed her thanks to the communities countywide for their generosity and for the hard work performed day in and day out by the staff at FOOD Share of Ventura County.

"When the community learns there are families in Ventura County that need a little help these holidays they will respond. For every six cans donated (roughly 1.5 pounds per person) will feed a family of four a single meal," said Ms. Bishop.

FOOD Share's Holiday Challenge food and fund drive is designed to assist needy families in the community and to provide the impetus for year-round giving. The food bank provides a safety net by feeding families, seniors, children, veterans, those that are homeless, people with disabilities and disaster victims all year long.
