The Westlake Village Library brought the classic Thornton Wilder work "Our Town" to life for its "Brown Bags and Books" group, which meets at the library recently. It was Wednesday November 7, when the words of "Our Town" were read by a group of local actors, including Nancy Solomons of Thousand Oaks and Gordon Durich, Westlake Village. Other actors came from Los Angeles and Ventura County to participate in a fun and educational event for both actors and audience.
The audience were even included in the program. Reading coordinator and actor, who played the role of Emily, was Bonnie Jean Talcott. She is an employee of the County of Los Angeles Public Library, at Westlake Village, which is at 31220 Oak Crest Drive, Westlake Village, CA 91361. Gordon Durich was called in to play Dr. Gibbs at the eleventh hour, as the actor scheduled to play the role was unavailable on the date of the reading.
Other actors were James Casey as Mr. Webb; Tim Holtwick as Stage Manager; David Reiter as George and Solomons as Mrs. Gibbs.
The next Westlake Village Library Brown Bags and Books book discussion group meeting will be held Wednesday December 5, noon to 1 pm, with the book "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini, being discussed.
Please call the Library to register at (818) 865-9230. Free and fun!
