Simi Valley Producer: Kamaka Brown will offer multicultural humor to Thousand Oaks restaurant crowd.
Pizza, pasta and comedy with a Polynesian twist will combine again in Thousand Oaks when comedian Kamaka Brown and his crew present the Comedy Luau.
The Simi Valley resident and Hawaiian native comic is producing his fifth show this time at Pellagio's in Thousand Oaks on Saturday, June 30.
The show is a cultual potpourri of comics includingLatino, Middle Eastern, Asian and Hawaiian comics. Polynesian dancers will punctuate the show and add a festive flavor to the event.
"
Hawaii has been called the "melting pot of the Pacific", Brown said, "our shows are like the luau parties in
Hawaii except no poi or raw fish. There's sure to be a lot of laughter and a good time for all at the Comedy Luau."
In addition to Brown's humorous take on a Hawaiian living on the
West Coast, he will be introducing Momo Casablanca, a Middle Eastern comic who recently performed at the Comedy Store in West Hollywood. Momo explores the mysteries of being a misunderstood Muslim in America.
Fernando Rivera, seen at Noho's HaHa Cafe is the resident grouch with his "take no prisoners" comedy. The show will feature special guest comics as well.
Jackie Maruschak joins the Comedy Luau crew. Her
New York appearances at Caroline's, The Comic Strip, Dangerfield' s and Catch A Rising Star has honed her standup chops.
Headlining the show is Hawaii born Asian American
Paul Ogata seen at the Laugh Factory, The Late Late Show, and winnner of the "Funniest Asian in the US" contest.
There will be enough laughter to keep everyone entertained and wanting more. The Comedy Luau shows have played to sold out crowds in the past and Brown is hoping for a repeat performance. Mark your calendars now for the June 30th event.
The show gets under way at 8 p.m. There is a $20 cover which includes two drinks. Pellagio's featues a full menu as well. The address is 868 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. There will be no advance ticket sales so come early for best seats. Mature audiences please. 21 and over.
