If you think it's news, it is.
Notes, observations, commentary, news and photos from our communities. I'm the general manager for the YourHub.com operation, the citizen journalism site for the Ventura County Star. And I'm glad you are here, too. My wife Joanna and I live in Simi Valley with our two sons, Matt and Joey. We've been in Ventura County for more than two decades and feel privileged to be here. Please comment on this blog and post your news and musings, too. See you around the county!

Theresa Clemen
was busy Tuesday.
After working all day as a teacher at Art Haycox School in Oxnard, she donned her Scout leader uniform and presided over a troop meeting.
Then she drove across town to the Seaside Pavilion in Port Hueneme to learn about citizen journalism.
And that was a day after she had already posted a story on this website reminding parents about the upcoming back-to-school night at Haydock.
Like many of the other people who came out to learn about citizen journalism, Clemen is already involved in her community. But she came curious about how to get more information out about the causes that are important to her. She joined a handful of others from the Port Hueneme, Oxnard and Ventura areas who attended the latest YourHub.com seminar. They left with a better understanding of how YourHub.com works and with tips on writing stories and shooting photographs.
The YourHub.com traveling seminars are making their way across Ventura County through December.
Click here for a link to the upcoming schedule.
And if you think that citizen journalism is not for you, think again. This is your chance to promote your group or organization, your neighborhood, your favorite cause or even to shout out to friends and family.
It takes only a bit of time and planning to make it happen. But if Clemen can do it with her schedule, you might be able to make the time, too.
