Students from Robert J Frank Intermediate School gave up a Saturday afternoon to give back to the community. On October 6, twenty 8th graders from Frank Schoolserved as docents while others served bratwurts. The event was staged by the Oxnard Historic Farm Park Foundation which oversees the development of the Gottfried Maulhardt/Albert Pfeiler Farm Site, a county landmark. The Foundation used the students to educate the public about the history of the site its buildings and its future. With the help of John Laing Homes, who donated $75000 to the Foundation, the goal is to raise enough money to restore the two oldest buildings on the Oxnard Plain, built in the 1870s buildings, and eventually build a replica of the Colonia School as well as create an "adopt a crop" garden area. The Foundation is selling engraved bricks to create a "courtyard of memories." Many of the people who purchased their bricks were able to view a display of the 130 bricks that have already been delivered to the site. The event netted the Foundation over $2000 dollars as well as a promise from Raymond Saviers to donate the Saviers family piano which dates back to the 1906. For more information, please visit the Foundation's website at
www.oxnardfarmpark.org
where the public can download an order form for their own engraved brick which can make them a "part of history."
