Officer Scott E. Swenson Retires

After over twenty-nine years of service to the Oxnard community, Police Officer Scott E. Swenson has retired.

Officer Swenson began his career with the Oxnard Police Department on January 23, 1978 as a Patrol Officer and during his tenure he also served as a Detective in the Field Tactical Unit and in the Investigation Unit. Officer Swenson also served in the Crime Analysis Unit, where he was tasked with identifying crime trends and to provide officers and citizens with the necessary information to combat crime in our City, helping to improve the quality of life for our residents. On July 17, 1993, Officer Swenson was promoted to the rank of Senior Police Officer, where he served as the Traffic Coordinator and as Beat Coordinator.


Officer Swenson completed the final years of his career in the Central Business District as the Central Business District Beat Coordinator where he was charged with providing a crime-free downtown area. His efforts ushered in a sense of safety and security, which greatly assisted in the revitalization of Downtown Oxnard.

Through his commitment to his job, coworkers and the community, Officer Swenson has played a vital role in fulfilling the Police Department's mission statement of reducing crime, disorder and the fear of crime while providing an enhanced quality of life for all those who live, work and visit our City.

The City of Oxnard extends best wishes and congratulations for over twenty-nine years of outstanding service to our great community.
