The month of November was designated as"Charity Month" for our local chapter of the Porsche Club of America. Coinciding with November being a month of thanksgiving, we spent one day helping out at Habitat for Humanity's Villa Ceasar Chavez in Oxnard. A fun time was had by all, taping and mudding the drywall.
Another day, members showed up at Oxnard's Food Share to sort food. They brought with them 97lbs. of food to donate. We got a tour and learned how Food Share distributes food to so many local venues. What a great cause! Thousands of pounds of food were sorted and we went home happy and tired. We asked our members to donate money this month as well. I must say, they were very generous.
The money we collected in November went to the Red Cross to benefit the recent fire victims. We all have so much, and it was great to give back.
In addition to our first charity month, our members have been collecting money all year to be donated to this year's chosen cause, TEACH. TEACH is an organization formed to help youths who turn 18 and are no longer being served through the foster care system. At our holiday party this year members will be bringing toys for our Spark of Love toy drive.
If you own a Porsche and want to be part of this wonderful group, just log on to our website - pca.org/zone8/. We are called the Santa Barbara Region even though most members live in Ventura County. Hope to hear from you!
