El Concilio is proud to announce the kick off of our new web site, this year's first Citizenship Fair, preparations for the Community Leadership Awards Dinner, Youth Leadership Conference by Breakthrough Youth for Success and the Family Education & Literacy Department resumes classes in January.
Our web site offers an over view of our departments, downloadable forms as well as a roster of our board and some information on the Community Leadership Awards. A very talented young man, Heriberto Mendoza, was responsible for coordinating our brochures, business cards and the web page. All of the photo's are of clients and staff most of the pictures were taken by Heriberto and Beatriz Zamudio, our own photo and video genius in house. Thanks Heriberto and once again, a job well done.
The Citizenship Fair is scheduled to take place on 1/26 here at El Concilio (301 South C Street, Oxnard) from 9 AM to 3 PM. Our Citizenship/Immigration Department is headed by Alfredo Hidrogo and Juana Ramirez they jointly make sure that our clients have what they need to begin their citizenship, or other legal process offered by the department, paperwork in order.
El Concilio's Blue Ribbon Committee will soon be picking the individuals that will be awarded at the Community Leadership Awards Dinner. We are currently accepting sponsorships for the event and the forms are available online at
www.elconcilioventura.org. I'd like to thank our board for their efforts and of course our staff, Tania I. Corona who is a pro at this event and Gabriela Chavez who's in training to assist with the event roll-out.
Breakthrough Youth for Success is our youth pregnancy prevention program. The program is funded by the state and managed by Beatriz Zamudio with Luis Molina as her right hand man. They both have forged a program that has been hailed as one of the most successful in the state of California. El Concilio is proud of the work they do with youth, great leaders make great mentors.
Our Family Education & Literacy Department will resume the Citizenship and ESL Classes on January 14 th. The department is currently managed by Gabriela Chavez who not only manages the department but teaches and assists with other departments and with Admin. This department has a great pool of staff and volunteers, Paulina Cordova, Lizbeth Tinoco, Margarita Sanchez and Jaime Barragan. Jaime handles our Technology Center and all the free classes offered.
El Concilio's administration is made of Reyna O'Neil, the Executive Director, Gabriela Chavez, Administrative Assistant, Tania I. Corona who handles all our accounting, HR and now special events and lastly John Rojo who takes care of our building maintenance, here is a man who gets the job done the first time with dedication. Thanks to all staff for making my job much easier.
