The Saint Paul Baptist Church Seminary and Bible Institute (SPBC SBI) held its First Class Graduation on Saturday, July 14, 2007. The Commencement took place at 1777 Statham Blvd, Oxnard, and encompassed an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity to Reverend James Chambers.
Bishop Broderick Huggins, Pastor of Saint Paul Baptist Church and President of the SPBC SBI, stated, "These students worked hard and diligently. They proved that they were serious about their commitment to their studies and to God." Huggins says he foresees an influx of enrollment as the school continues to grow.
Dr. H. Patricia Hill, Dean of SPBC SBI said, "I thank God for the hard work, dedication and faithfulness of all the students. Indeed, it has been a blessed experience. I look forward to continued blessings in their lives and the lives they touch."
Linda Love, Valedictorian, addressed guests and classmates." Well, we made it. All those hundreds and hundreds of questions in the Basic Bible exam, and all the papers and assignments we had to do...some of us enrolled intentionally and one us came by accident, but here we are; and as Proverbs 3:6 tells us, In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will direct your paths."
SPBC SBI is chartered through the Sacramento Theological Seminary and Bible College where it is accredited through the International Accrediting Commission for Schools, Colleges and Theological Seminaries. It is an institution of theological higher education, dedicated primarily to equip, prepare, and motivate people to advance the cause of Christ through ministries that educate, edify and evangelize.
A total of nine students received Bachelor Degrees in Theology: Cleo Anderson, Lorenzo Cole, Ophelia Harrison, Linda Love, Betty Jo Lomax, Jacquala Shropshire, Olga Rene Camper, Vincent Stewart, and Patricia Whitehead.
