For Oxnard, it's all in the food
Contributed by: Richard Senate on 3/16/2007

Every community has it's own claim to fame. But what has Oxnard got that others do not? What makes this place special? What does this city have that could induce people to spend a tank of gas to come here? I thought long and hard on this problem intil it hit me. It's in the food.

Oxnard has the best collection of Mexican Restaurants around. Yes, there some great places to buy Mexican food in other towns but, its just one or two restaurants. Here the number and quality surpasses any other community in Ventura County--and I believe all of California! I began to ask around, both Anglos and Latinos confirmed that their isn't better Mexican food north of Mexicali! Sea food in Oxnard, they confirmed, outshines that of Ensenada, Baja California.

Once Johnny Carson joked on the Tonight Show about the "last taco in Oxnard."
I don't believe Johnny ever came here, and if he did, taste a taco in Oxnard. He might have discovered it's nothing to joke about--they are downright good.
Here Mexican restaurants come in all shapes and sizes for any pocketbook. But, I have found that the quality and flavor is always exceptional.

If Oxnard wants a symbol they might think about a Chili pepper or a Taco.
