The Oceanview Pavilion has invited twenty five young people from the Port Hueneme Boys and Girls Club to be Oceanview's guests August 17 th, opening night, for the musical "Big River". This New York Tony award winning play is adapted from the book "Huckleberry Finn" written by Mark Twain.
In order to prepare the children for this exciting event, Port Hueneme Boys and Girls Club center manager, LaVonne McCullough reports, "we have been reading the book this past week and they are becoming acquainted with the story and the characters. The children are very excited to be experiencing live theater for the first time."
An orchestra will be providing music for the large cast of over 50 and the Oceanview Pavilion has arranged for the youngsters to tour the stage and meet and talk with the actors after the play. Oceanview Pavilion is located across from the Port Hueneme Pier; "Big River" runs week-ends till September 9 th.
