"Isn't It Loverly"
Oceanview Pavilion's "Theatre by the Beach" proudly presents, the 1964 Academy Award winning classic "My Fair Lady". Adapted from George Bernard Shaw's Play and Gabrial Pascal's motion picture "Pygmalion". Book and Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and Music by Frederick Loewe. Written by Shaw in 1913, Pygmalion's Broadway debut delighted audiences then and continues to provide dazzling entertainment for us in 2007. Opening night is November 2nd and the run will continue, week-ends, through November 25th. What a great way to kick off your Holidays! Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Oceanview is located at 575 E Surfside Dr., Port Hueneme across from Hueneme Pier and is fully handicap accessible with free parking in Lot E.
The lyric soprano Claire Culver stars as Eliza Doolittle with Gary Best playing the pompous Henry Higgins. Noah Skulety is Freddy Eynsford-Hill her constant suitor and Hux Reid is the irrepressible Alfred Doolittle. Ron Rowe rounds out the cast of principles, as the ever noble, Colonel Pickering.
Peter Crane is the director of this large cast of over thirty professional and amateur actors, singers and dancers. The "Theatre by the Beach" in- house orchestra will accompany the performers. Mr. Crane has a long list of credits to his name and if
you enjoyed South Pacific, Show Boat and Big River, you will not want to miss his "My Fair Lady".
Costume designer, Mary Crane has assembled an incredible array of period gowns, hats, parasols and accessories. Ms. Crane has designed costumes for several musicals recently presented here at Oceanview Pavilion's Theatre by the Beach and in other venues in Ventura and Santa Barbara County. Set Designer, Mike Carnahan is currently working on ingenious set pieces for My Fair Lady. Mike has created sets for several Oceanview Pavilion productions; Pirates of Penzance, Singing in the Rain, Hair and Big River. Professionally choreographed, this production is sure to be an outstanding theatrical event.
