Blog Entry 1 of 10 Being an animal advocate is a toughie!
Trying to "do the right thing" when it comes to companion animals is hard... I don't know what my life would be like without my puppers... Can't even imagine it in fact... I consistently try to see both sides of each perspective, because every story has two sides, but there are times when I simply fail in this endeavor... I'm not an animal activist, nor am I a 'dog flake' either... I don't believe my rights supercede anyone else's as well... I wouldn't consider myself a 'fence sitter' because I embody tremendous passion with issues I have embraced... So, where does this really leave me?... I've written about my puppers for years - they give me at least one major belly laugh a day and usually many more, they love me just as I am whether I'm sick or well, sad or happy... I think (?) I might actually like animals (for the most part) more than I care for the human society and what I observe... UT OH!

Every journey begins with the first step, right?

Well, I guess introductions would be in order first... My name is Linda, I live here in Simi Valley... Hmmmm... What else would you all need to know?... My daughter's jokingly said I was 'older than dirt', but that's pretty darned old!... And I don't believe I am yet quite that old...

I moved to this area almost 10 years ago from Virginia but originally hail from the Deep South... That'll explain my odd way of "talkin" for I spent the first year saying something and hearing "You're not from around here, are you?"... I didget SO tired of hearing that comment and make a conscience effort to tone down the Southern accent... I'm told I still give it away when I say numbers (like "5" or "9"), get riled up or nervous...

Moving down the list for my Momma has always said I was anal-retentive...

Why would I write a blog?... Interesting question... Probably for a lot of reasons...

1) Our family takes the "BUY AMERICAN" mantra to a local level - we believe in buying in our community, supporting our local community, etc. I truly love Simi and although I sorta/kinda get annoyed at the added traffic here and there, this area is just the best! I spent 10 years in 'cold-and-ice' winters in Northern Virginia followed by HUMID (need I say blankety humid?) summers... Hated it... Humidity I can take coming from Louisiana... The snow, sleet and ice?... Not me... Once my feet, head or nose gets too cold, I get cranky!

2) I see issues come up in our community regarding dogs (and cats) that I look at and say, "What are those people thinking???" so that's a good reason to blog about them.

3) I'm neither a trend setter nor a trend follower... Geezie, peezie... I still have clothes in my closet that fit me well and I like... I'm SO far behind the times already because I don't blog... <EG>... And I'm known for being a woman that 'says what she means and means what she says'... Put the two together and I'm hoping someone else might even like to read what I write!

So, this is a good first step, right?... I've intro'd myself and stated my purposes for beginning this new journey... About the only thing I can guarantee is that it should be interesting!
