Over the past four weeks, 805 Boot Camp has been running a "fund raiser" for the Simi Valley Public Library!
Every push-up earned a nickel - and they added up to over $100.00!!!
"What a great way to help the library!" says Larry Lee, Simi Valley resident.
A push-up (done properly) is one of the most effective exercises to build upper body strength and core stability.
Every boot camper can do them by the fourth week of camp - some of the campers have NEVER done one properly before in their life!
"When I first started boot camp I was tested with everyone else and couldn't do one push-up. I was pretty embarrassed but I've been working so hard and now I can do 20." Vicki Loving reports.
"We have been doing a LOT of push-ups lately! Yesterday we had to do 5 push ups every 5 yards on a relay for almost 45 minutes! My arms were jelly but it was FUN!"
This challenge was thrown out to all three camps during the first week of the boot camp program. Since then the campers have done over 2000 push-ups! And there are still two weeks left of camp.
The last donation 805 Boot Camp did for the library raised $350 and it was used to help add to and improve the fitness and health section.
Randy Shoemaker, owner of 805 Boot Camp, had the bright idea of the challenge. "Our goals are to help people learn about their health and how to improve it and we always support the community every chance we get."
