Would you like to enjoy classic seasonal foods and delectable desserts this holiday season and not feel guilty? Then give yourself a treat that won't put on the pounds by signing up for a two-hour, hands-on "Healthy Holiday Cooking" class offered every Saturday through Dec. 30th at the California Health and Longevity Institute (CHLI) in the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village.
"We've developed a bold and flavorful holiday menu that is incredibly delicious and good for you as well," says Paulette Lambert R.D., director of nutrition for CHLI. "All recipes use the finest seasonal fruits and vegetables combined with traditional holiday fare. We have created menu items that are easy to prepare, leaving more time to enjoy the holidays with family and friends."
Classes are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and are $125 each. Class participants (aged 16 and over) prepare menu selections and then sit down for relaxing and a sumptuous, gourmet luncheon. Every participant leaves with all the class recipes as well as a class cooking apron.
"Healthy eating is all about making the right choices," says Lambert. "Our goal is to
give guests an enjoyable culinary experience while introducing new dietary options that will improve health and promote longevity."
CHLI offers ongoing two-hour cooking classes from Tuesday through Saturday in its Wellness Kitchen, led by nutritionist chefs. Experienced and fledgling cooks will both be inspired by the state-of-the-art kitchen, innovative menu choices and elegant adjoining dining room. Class size is kept to 15 participants, so the experience is both personalized and hands-on.
Upcoming classes focus on vegetarian cuisine, easy fish entrees, winter produce and family meals in minutes. Reservations are necessary, call guest services at 818-575-1118 to book a cooking class.
