SIMI VALLEY TEEN RECEIVESSCHOLARSHIPS
DanielSakaida, an outstanding Simi Valley teenager, recently received a $500 scholarship from the Ventura County Republican Women Federated for hiswinningessaytitled "A Nation's Birthright".The essay wasDaniel'sresponse to the question"Why is the U.S. Constitution unique in human history and whyshould each U.S. citizenvalue its contents?"Daniel's essay will now be submitted to the California Federation of Republican Women, Southern Division,CharlotteMouselScholarshipCommittee for additionalscholarship considerations.Daniel was also chosen for a $1,000 scholarship by the Simi Valley/Moorpark Republican Women Federated andwas one of two students selected to attend an Advocacy Workshop in Sacramento from April 21 - April 24 wherehe had a chance tomeet young people from all over the State, as well asmeet and listen to State legislators.Daniel is asenior at Pacific Christian School in Newbury Park. He is an Honor RollStudent with a GPA of 4.05. He also is the President of his school's Service Club and recently tookthird placeas a defense attorney at theVentura County Mock Trial Competition.Daniel became a docent at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library at the tender age of 16 and was chosen "Cool Kid" of the week by ABCChannel7News. He was featured on theprogramand awarded a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond.In February of this year, Daniel was appointed byMayor Paul Miller andthe Simi Valley City Council to serve on the Executive Board of Neighborhood CouncilNo. 1.Congratulations and hats offto this well-rounded young man!
