Write-On to Reading!

Ventura County Reading Association is sponsoring an essay contest entitled, "Write-On to Reading!" Essays will tell why the student loves to read, and how they demonstrate their love of reading. Winners of the statewide contest will be invited to read their essays at the California Reading Association's annual conference in Ontario, California on Saturday, November 10, 2007. Essays will be judged in the following categories: grades 3-5, grades 6-8, and grades 9-12. Grades 3-5 essays must be from 125 to 150 words. Grades 6-8 essays must be from 150 to 250 words. Grades 9-12 essays must be from 250 to 500 words Teachers and parents may encourage students to participate in the contest, however all participation must be voluntary. Deadline for essay submission is Wednesday, June 27, 2007. The writer's name, address, grade, and phone number must be submitted on a separate sheet of paper to: Write-On to Reading!
