Simi Valley's "Big Red's Salsa" a Winner!
Contributed by: Jacque Turner on 5/6/2007

Simi Valley's Big Red's Salsa took the honors at the First Conejo Valley Days' (CVD) Salsa Challenge held on Saturday, May 5, 2007, "Cinco de Mayo." As the CVD "Conejo's Best Homemade Salsa Challenge" first winner he will also participate in the Oxnard Salsa Festival. Simi Valley resident, Gary "Big Red" Christenson, entered his winning salsa that had an appealing color of red, was made with fresh ingredients and had just the right amount of chunkiness and "heat" without being overpowering. Big Red's Salsa was a crowd pleaser and the judges agreed it was a winner! "Big Red" has been making salsa for over 30 years! He and his family have lived in Simi Valley for 22 years. You can sample his salsa at the Soroptimist Margarita Mixoff on May 31, 2007 at Conejo Creek Park North and at the Oxnard Salsa Festival to be held on July 28-29, 2007. You can contact him at 818-427-7335 or visit his website at www.redssalsa.com.
