Simi Y Offers Licensed Childcare at 11 Schools
Contributed by: Diane Rumbaugh on 12/6/2007

Finding a safe, nurturing childcare environment is one of the most pressing concerns of working parents with school-aged kids. Parents want to be assured that their children are in safe hands.

The Simi Valley Family YMCA offers affordable licensed childcare at 11 after school childcare sites on Simi Valley Elementary school campuses. The Y is the largest provider of childcare in the city, with a reputation of having a secure and positive child development program.

Children in the program participate in a variety of structured activities ranging from cooking, theatre productions, science experiments, sports and arts and crafts. Caring staff work with kids on social skills, focusing on the four values of respect, honesty, caring and responsibility. "The YMCA is a great place to be a kid, and a place where parents can feel secure and comfortable in leaving their precious little ones each afternoon," says Lisa Tate, senior program director for the YMCA.

The Simi Valley Family YMCA (as well as the Conejo and Miller Family YMCAs) will be holding a "Discover the Y" open house sponsored by Dole on January 5 where information about childcare will be available. The hours for the Simi YMCA's open house (held at the Simi YMCA at the corner of Galena and Cochran streets) are 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For immediate childcare information, call Lisa Tate at the Simi Valley Family YMCA, 805-583-5338.
