Simi Valley Education Foundation

Presents $16,800 Check to Santa Susana High School

Board members from the Simi Valley Education Foundation were recently on hand to present a check for $16,800 to Pam Carter, principal of Santa Susana High School, at the conclusion of this year's Matching School Funds Program.

Matching School Funds Program is a collaborative effort of the Simi Valley Education Foundation (SVEF), secondary public schools in Simi Valley and parents. The goal of the Matching School Funds Program is to stimulate greater parent involvement in the education process, expand the volunteer base at each school, and forge a lasting partnership between the Simi Valley Education Foundation, each school and the neighborhood it serves in order to develop additional programs at the school.

The Simi Valley Education Foundation will match up to $7.00 per student at each of the secondary schools in the Simi Valley Unified School District. The money raised at each of the schools comes from parent-involved fundraising events and not PTSA or other existing programs.

The money raised at Santa Susana High School from private donations and other fundraising activities, will go towards "outfitting" the inside of the new performing arts auditorium to be built with Simi Valley School Bond money. Funds will be used to equip the building with sound and lighting equipment, and stage equipment such as curtains, scrims, screens, rigging, stage extensions, etc.

On hand to present a check to Santa Susana High School were : (from the left) Allan C. Mann, 2007-2008 SVEF board president, Pam Carter, principal at Santa Susana High School; Sue Martinez, parent at Santa Susana High School; Brian Iverson, SVEF board member and representative at the school; and Cathy Carlson, SVEF board member and Chair of the Matching School Funds Committee.

The Simi Valley Education Foundation (SVEF) provides additional resources to benefit students in Simi Valley's public schools. Through program development, fundraising, and collaboration, the Foundation seeks to strengthen our public schools and the education they provide for our children. For more information on our programs please contact SVEF at 877.746.4543 or email info@svef.org.
