Perspective on Creativity and Breast Cancer

The news is filled with reports on breast cancer, and it always makes me feel sad for the people who get it.Today I write with a different perspective. I was also recently given this diagnoses. What I imagined first, was attacking the source, a small tumor, that I found.. After a mammogram and ultra sound, my surgeon removed it. Finding out that it was positive, was shocking, but the tumor is out!..Now for a brighter prognosis, there is a follow up surgery to remove tissue surrounding the site and a lymph node for extra precaution, followed by four treatments of radiation..All this happened to me, a very healthy person..
The nodule I discovered was small. I never would have felt it if I hadn't raised my arms while lying down..The nodule was just under the surface,on the side of my breast. I plainly felt a small bump...but felt it better with lotion..This revelation probably saved my life..Early detection, before it spreads, is the key!
Today, I still plan to make art , and lead a life of joy. Life is precious, and we are all on our way to dying...One question I ask myself is," How can I learn to love more?" I also want to slow down and live every second ... in the creative flow.
