Hi everyone, I'm glad you found your way to the blog section. I've been asked, "What's a blog?" more than a few times since starting to talk to people about YourHub.com. Blog is simply short for Web log and you can think of it as an online journal where you can wax philosphic on subjects large or small, international or personal. Just remember if you choose to add the blog to the YourHub listings, anyone can read what you write. My blog, most likely, will just be about random thoughts and observations and hopefully will spur conversation either on local topics or local effects of wider-reaching topics. Please feel free to leave comments with your own views -- or better yet, start your own blog and write about it!

It hardly seems possible that all five Ventura County YourHubs have been in publication for a month already. I guess it's true what they say about time flying when you're having fun - because we do have a lot of fun on the Hub.

I hope you've been enjoying reading your neighbors' postings as much as the YourHub team has - and I especially hope you've joined in on the fun by posting your own stories.

If you haven't yet, now's a great time because we've got a contest going on where you can win dinner just for posting. For every post you make to YourHub.com through March 16, you'll be entered to win dinner for four. Look for complete details in Tuesday's printed version of YourHub.com.

Each hub will have a winner: posts on the Conejo Valley site will be entered to win dinner for four at Eric's in Newbury Park; in Simi Valley, it's Barton's; in Moorpark, it's Secret Garden; in Oxnard, it's Ruby's; in Camarillo, it's Verona Trattoria and in Ventura, the winner will be dining at Austen's at the Pierpont Inn.

I won't say which it is, but my favorite county eatery is included on the list and I'm a fan of the rest, so if you're looking for a fourth to round out your dinner party, I'm available...

I can't promise witty banter but it's pretty much a given that I'll do something clutzy and embarrassing that you can get a laugh out of.

Also, I wanted to point out a change on page two of the published version of YourHub.com. So far, I've been writing a column about whatever strikes my fancy each week but hopefully you'll be seeing less and less of me and more of yourselves here. It is, after all, YOURhub.

Each week we hope to select a blog entry or column-type post to publish right up front -so if you want to wax philosophic about this or that, please do!
