Council Candidates at Ventura Harbor Forum

What:	The Ventura Harbor Community Council is hosting a City Council Candidate Forum at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel Ballroom, on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 7pm. The public is invited to attend. Topics of discussion will primarily be focused on Harbor related items. The League of Women Voters will moderate the Forum for the Community Council. This is a non partisan race and event. Questions to be considered can be emailed to LynnMikelatos@gmail.com. Lynn Mikelatos is the chair of the Ventura Harbor Community Council. Vice Chairs Lorraine Foster and Cherryl Connally are chairing the forum. The community council will also be interviewing candidates prior to the forum and will make an endorsement after the forum. The Ventura Harbor is administered by the Ventura Port District, a special district under the Department of Boating and Waterways for the State of California. Port District Commissioners are appointed by the Ventura City Council for four year terms. The Port Commissioners hire a General Manager, currently Oscar Pena, who manages staff. The Ventura Port District consists of the Ventura Harbor Patrol, the Sheraton Four Points Hotel, the Holiday Inn Express, the Harbortown Point Marina Resort, the Ventura Harbor Marina Mobile Home Park, the Public Launch Ramp, 20 acres of undeveloped land (the Sonderman Ring Apartment project), the Ventura Isle Marina (consists of the Pierpont Bay Yacht Club and Catalina Yacht Sales), Ventura West Marina (some office and shop space is included in this lease), Ventura Harbor Village Marina, the Ventura Harbor Village (shops, restaurants and office space), Ventura Harbor Boatyard, Ventura Harbor Marine Fuel Dock, Dave's Fuel Dock, Scotch and Sirloin Restaurant, Anchors Way Boatyard and Storage, Island Packers Company and the Ventura Yacht Club. This is a great opportunity to meet the candidates and hear their views on why they would be a good city council person for the city of Ventura.
