Ventura Music Festival Honors Champions of Music

Second Annual Ventura Music Festival Champions of Music salutes 2007 honorees Stephen and Lynn Kipp and Tony and Michelle Strauss with gala fundraiser November 30, 2007.

For the second year the Ventura Music Festival Association will honor supporters of the festival who are also true champions of music. Celebrating their passionate commitment of time, energy and resources, these individuals have helped to make the Ventura Music Festival the signature event in the City of Ventura.

Inductees this year are Stephen and Lynn Kipp and Tony and Michelle Strauss.

"The Ventura Music Festival is fortunate to have the support of many wonderful people, says Cheryl Heitmann, executive director of the Ventura Music Festival. "This year, we are pleased to recognize Tony and Michelle Strauss and Stephen and Lynn Kipp who have gone beyond to ensure the success of the festival through their generous contributions of time and resources."

Recipients of the Champions of Music award will be recognized in a gala event Friday, November 30, 2007 beginning at 5:30 pm. The evening will include dinner, dancing and entertainment. Stephen and Lynn Kipp
Kipp, honored as a business champion, is president and CEO of Kipp Brant Drummond & Associates in Ventura. Both Stephen and Lynn are deeply involved in the community and are dedicated to supporting and sponsoring many local non-profit organizations including the Ventura Music Festival.

For the past several years, the couple's firm, Kipp Brant Drummond & Associates, has been the exclusive sponsor to Nuvi Mehta, artistic director for the Ventura Music Festival. Through this partnership, Mehta takes his Education Outreach program to elementary schools throughout the City of Ventura, teaching music to third, fourth and fifth grade students.

Other beneficiaries of Kipp's generosity include Ventura Rotary, San Buenaventura Foundation for the Arts, Bell Arts Factory, Rubicon Theater Company, Boys and Girls Club, Focus on the Masters and Canine Adoption Rescue League.

The Kipp's have four children and seven grandchildren. Stephen is a third generation resident of Ventura County.

Tony and Michelle Strauss
Tony and Michelle Strauss have been involved with the Ventura Music Festival since 1999. Tony has been a Board Member since 1999 and is a past board president. Michelle is an integral member of C-Notes Productions, the fundraising arm of the Festival.

Both Tony and Michelle have been active in the Ventura community in various capacities since moving to the county in 1977. Tony began his legal career with the County Counsel's office, has been in private practice since 1987, and is currently the principal of the law firm Strauss Law Group, specializing in employment, business and real estate law. Michelle works as the office manager of the firm.

Tony is a member of the Cultural Arts Commission, the Ventura County Rent Review Board, San Buenaventura Foundation for the Arts, Ventura Rotary Club, Ventura Medical Resource Foundation, Bell Arts Factory and the Ventura County Bar Association.

Married for 38 years, the Strauss's have four children.
