Sydney Gstettenbauer was named a collegiate First Team All American,along with six teammates,as a member of the UCSD Women's Waterpolo team. UCSD, which competes at the Division II level, finished the season 19 -14, 3rd in the tough WWPA conference and ranked 14th nationally.She was in her first season as a starter for the Tritons and had an impact from the beginning of the season.
The youngest of the Triton All-American selections, she finished her 2007 season with 35 goals, 30 steals, and a team-best 29 assists. The driver from Ventura High School put together her most explosive offensive game of the year in UCSD's win over Chapman, scoring four goals, all in the first half.
In addition to garnering the First Team honors, Sydney was also recognized for making the Academic All American team.

Way to go Sydney, There was a time not so long ago, you wouldn't have been able to participate in public school sports at all. Nice to see things do change.
