City Manager Rick Cole named City employee Renee Richards as Employee of the Year in the November 7, 2007ceremony at Ventura City Hall. Ms. Richards is employed as a Youth Programs Coordinator in the Community Services Department.
"Ms. Richards was selected for her outstanding performance and demonstration of the City's core values, competencies and ethical principles," said City Manager Rick Cole. She has been employed with the City since February 1997.
Community Services Manager Elena Brokaw cited her remarkable ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with her co-workers and her staff team-increasing youth programs enrollment and revenue 25% over the past 6 years, with 75% of her youth staff returning every summer. Brokaw mentioned other qualities-such as excellent planning, management and organizational skills, confidence and pride in her work and leading by example-that "show she is representing our city with very high standards."
As Employee of the Year, Renee Richards will be presented at a City Council meeting, receive a cash award, and have her name appear on the perpetual plaque on display in City Hall. She will also serve as a member of the city's Awards Committee for the next year.
