Ventura, - Soroptimist International of Ventura, California is now taking applications for its Violet Richardson award.

The award is given to young women who are caring, compassionate, creative and most of all committed to make the world a better place.

The Soroptimist's Violet Richardson Award is a cash award given to teen girls who volunteer in their communities. The prize is evenly divided between the girls and the organization that the girls give their time. To be eligible for the award girls must be between the ages of 14 and 17, be volunteers and submit an application that include references and an essay. The award is granted each year to girls who show commitment to serving their communities.

All of the winners and applicants show the commitment to community service at a young age that will enable them to grow into even more valuable community leaders in the future.
