Friends and colleagues are organizing a celebration of life to commemorate Curt Stiles on behalf of his family on August 17, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in the Ventura City Hall Atrium, 501 Poli Street. Curt served multiple terms on the City of Ventura Design Review Committee and Planning Commission.
Attendees are welcome to share their stories, memories and experiences about Curt at the event or, if unable to attend, send tributes by phone or email to Dao Doan to forward to the Stiles family. Participants are asked to contribute $15 towards event costs and RSVP by August 10 with Dao Doan at 805.652.2115 or
dao@mainstreetarchitects.com.
Stiles, a Ventura High School graduate and U.S. Marine Corps sergeant, began his professional career as a designer after studying architecture at the University of Southern California. A few of his local projects include Ventura's Plaza Park, Oxnard Plaza Park, Camarillo Old Town design guidelines, Westside Design Guidelines and the Ventura River Trail.
Stiles is survived by sister Marianne Knight, uncle Jeffrey Stiles, and six children with his first wife, Corene Goodman: sons Kevin, Daniel and Martin and daughters Robyn O'Conner, Carolyn Myers, Shauna Peoples and 17 grandchildren.
