Ticktockers join American Cancer Society's Relay
Contributed by: Peggy Maryanski on 11/8/2007

The Ticktockers and Patronesses of the National Charity League, Inc., Ventura County Chapter contributed hundreds of volunteer hours at the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in Camarillo last month.

The Ticktockers helped set up the event at Camarillo High School and cheered on the cancer survivors as they kicked off the relay by taking the first lap. Many Ticktockers also donated hand-tied fleece blankets to the event's silent auction. Patronesses helped serve breakfast to survivors in attendance. Together, the mothers and daughters formed a live cancer survivor ribbon on the baseball field, which was photographed by helicopter.

The National Charity League is a philanthropic, educational, cultural and social organization for mothers and their daughters in 7th through 12th grades. The Ventura County Chapter has nearly 100 adult members. Their daughters make up the group called the Ticktockers. Last year, the chapter provided more than 9,300 hours of volunteer service and donated $18,500 to selected philanthropies throughout Ventura County.
