Community members are invited to learn what Ventura county's workforce education needs are and what is currently being provided. The Ventura County Civic Alliance (VCCA) is holding a workforce education meeting 3 - 5 p.m. on Nov. 14 at Child Development Resources of Ventura County, Conference Room C, 221 Ventura Blvd. in Oxnard. The conference will examine the needs and trends of workforce education in Ventura county and feature existing programs that are working to address the issue. VCCA is holding the meeting in hopes of developing a strategy for workforce education in the future. The registration fee is $15 for non-VCCA members, free for members. To RSVP, call 805-988-0196 ext. 114 or email civicalliance@vccf.org.
A group of panelists will discuss what their programs are doing to impact workforce education in the county and address gaps between current skill sets and employment opportunities with future ones. They will also share success stories and challenges their programs have faced.
Panelists will include Cheryl Moore of the Workforce Investment Board of Ventura County, Hugh Ralston of Ventura County Community Foundation, Kay Faulconer Boger, Ed.D. and Sharon Dwyer of Ventura College, Richard Duarte of the P-16 Council, Robert Wismann of ROP programs, Carmen Fraser of Goodwill Industries, and Captain David Fleisch and Mike Weaver of VCEDA's TRIAD initiative.
The Ventura County Civic Alliance is a volunteer organization dedicated to promoting the quality of life in the county, primarily through engaging citizens in dialog on regional concerns and by educational endeavors. The organization is guided by a mission to promote a healthy and sustainable future for Ventura County through a balance of economic, social equity and environmental perspectives.
