Smoke Him Out

SMOKE HIM OUT!

Joe Moore was a Fire Marshall in Ventura when in 1965, he had a call to a fire on a county road and two Engine Companies responded. The house fire was put out without incident and Joe looked around for the cause. Was this an arson fire? Looking in the barn, he found a container that smelled of diesel fuel and gasoline which could have been used to start the fire.
Only one distributer sold diesel in town so he decided to check on who might have bought it there recently. With some "detective" work, he learned that a trucker had bought diesel and a small amount of gasoline the night before and he tracked-down the trucker's address which was in the Los Angeles area. And Joe discovered that the trucker was an owner of the burned house!
Joe and a policeman drove to L.A. and waited all day for him to finally return. His alibi of his whereabouts that night did not hold water and he was eventually arrested and convicted. While standing before the judge to be sentenced, the judge asked, "Why did you set fire to your house?" He said that he and his wife were separated and when he saw a car parked in the driveway at his wife's house, he suspected that it probably belonged to his wife's boyfriend and decided to ...........
