If you are interested in planning for our senior adult community, the Thousand Oaks Senior Adult Master Plan Advisory Committee is your opportunity to make Thousand Oaks the best place for Seniors! This year the Senior Adult Master Plan Committee goals are to gather information regarding the needs of currently retired senior adults and baby boomers in our community to assist City and other local impacted organizations in preparing for our future senior needs in our community. We need volunteers to do everything from setting up presentation materials to analysing data from our surveys to brainstorming plan strategies. Plans include:
* Targeting needs in seven categories: general demographics, housing, transportation, health, recreation, legal/insurance, and volunteerism
* Collect a minimum of 1800 surveys by May 08 for data analysis
* Speaking presentations
* Hosting the first annual Thousand Oaks Community Meeting to create senior "wish list."
* Develop publicity and additional outreach. Interested? If you can make a commitment for the next ten months,
please attend our next meeting. If you would like additional information on the program, please call (805) 449-2743 or e-mail CouncilonAging@toaks.org. No age limit. Regular meetings will take place the third Wednesday of each month, September through June, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Goebel Senior Adult Center, 1385 E. Janss Rd., Thousand Oaks. Presentations will be scheduled upon request from facilities. |
