Impeachment: 2008 Blooms as 2007 Efforts on Track
Contributed by: Cindy Piester on 1/1/2008

After ending 2007 impeachment efforts with a successful rally at the V.C. Fairgrounds Amtrac Station honoring Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich for his leadership in submitting H. Res.799 to impeach V.P. Cheney; Citizens for Impeachment, V.C. has chosen to begin 2008 as protest participants calling for impeachment during this years annual Rose Parade in Pasadena.

After months of local activism, the group joined forces with local Kucinich supporters on Dec. 23rd, and 50 people gathered to welcome the Kucinich leadership team at the Ventura train station. Kucinich, who has already submitted H. Res. 799 calling for Cheney's impeachment, is now preparing a 50 page bill calling for the impeachment of President Bush.

Unfortunately, Kucinich and his wife, Elizabeth, were not on the train due to the death of the candidate's brother, Perry. They were, instead, in Ohio for the funeral. The Kucinich team is being led locally by Rosyln Sherman who can be reached at: ventuaspirit@aol.com.

2008 is being met with renewed commitment by Citizens for Impeachment, as members participate in the annual Rose Parade. The White Rose Coalition, sponsor of the protest event, is calling for an end to the occupation of Iraq and for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney. The Coalition is planning a peaceful march down the parade route before the parade begins.

Bob Stock and girl friend, Marta Anderson, representatives of Citizens for Impeachment V.C., will be joining Cindy Sheehan and hundreds, if not thousands, of other citizens forced to activism in this event by the refusal of our elected representatives to stop this war and hold the Administration accountable. Stock echoes Margaret Meade when he says the reason he is doing this is, " A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

To VC Impeachers, Good work, keep it up. The average Venturan accepts the "status quo"-media coverage of our OCCUPATION of a sovereign nation that had nothing to do with 9-11....unless they have lost loved ones over there. The only tool WE THE PEOPLE have to get out of Iraq is IMPEACHMENT of those responsible, holding their feet to the fire of fact-finding hearing. Onward, Patrriots of our Constitution. Peace, at all costs, J.J.
