Wallpaper should be outlawed
Contributed by: monica white on 11/8/2007

When we bought our house a few years ago, we knew we needed to redo the guest bathroom. For two years we put up with the 1960s vanity with the formica countertop, the stained sink from the dripping water and the country-themed wallpaper that someone decided would look fabulous on every wall including the ceiling.

We thought we could handle it. Armed with a weekend of time, two helpers (ok, they were 3 and 8, but I was desperate) and a jug of DIF, I set to work. DIF was our savior back in 2006 when we had to remove the wallpaper we discovered behind the wall o' mirror we dismantled in the dining room (again, not sure what they were thinking.) But this time, DIF was letting me down. By Sunday afternoon, I had long lost both helpers to SpongeBob, the blisters on my hands had started to bleed and that room was nowhere near completion.

A friend stopped by and offered some words of encouragement, "You're crazy." When I started to pretend that the hours I had spent scraping and the fumes I had inhaled were no big deal, she merely gazed at the wallpapered ceiling and the other remaining walls and I started to concede. Maybe I wasn't the Handy Ma'am I thought I was. Ok, I'll admit it. I couldn't handle it.

I was only misty-eyed for a minute, until I realized I knew exactly who to call - Raymundo. Raymundo had previously transformed our ceilings from a 1960 cottage cheese disaster into smooth works of art. He knew how to get the job done. "It's no problem, Monica." One week later, our guest bathroom was finished, painted and perfect. It's beautiful and better than I ever expected. I can't thank Raymundo enough. His business card says, "Quality work at an affordable price." In other words, he can handle it. Just call him.

You ain't just whistling Dixie, who ever invented wall paper should be covered in wallpaper paste and left to dry. Rellis
