VENTURA, CA

Many times, while trying to get something positive done, snafus get in the way. This was the case this past spring just before LomaVistaElementary School's annual talent show took place. Thanks to some resourceful school volunteers and an angel of a community volunteer, the situation was successfully resolved.

The talent show was scheduled on the school stage two days after the annual Scholastic book fair took place in the same location. The left over books and cases, still on the stage, were scheduled to be picked up and everything was set. That's where the snafu hit. Due to a scheduling error the books and cases were not picked up on the scheduled date and presented a huge obstacle to allowing the talent show to proceed as planned.

Enter school volunteers Gina Fortunato and Misty Carpenter. Together, they brainstormed a solution and began making phone calls to get the books moved with no budget money to do so. That's where Daniel W. Bryan, owner of RENT- A - MOVER, of Ventura came onto the scene. Upon hearing the scheduling plight, Daniel immediately volunteered to help at no charge.

Daniel and the volunteers worked well after hours getting the books removed and stored safely. Daniel's efforts enabled the children who worked hard on their talent show acts to showcase their talents without the distraction of unexpected on-stage obstacles. The talent show was a huge success and was unmarred because of Daniel's heartfelt actions. A tremendous thank-you goes out to Daniel for all his help.
