To Jesus, or not to Jesus

To Jesus, or not to Jesus...

In an article on the upcoming TV broadcast "The Lost Tomb of Jesus", Reverend Cornelius Buckley a Jesuit chaplain at Thomas Aquinas College near Santa Paula succeeded in proving an old theory about the folks that run Thomas Aquinas College, that theory stated that the college was rife with extreme, chauvinist, conservatives.

Rev Buckley, with one rash statement showed his, and more than likely the mind set of the entire hierarchy of Thomas Aquinas College, he stated, while talking about the upcoming TV special that "There are three things that are not worth running after, a bus, a woman, and new claims about the life of Jesus." It's quite obvious that Rev Buckley forgot who brought him into this world, for him to classify "Women" along with a "Bus" not only denigrates all women but his own mother as well.

Now wether Rev Buckley believes that this new claim about the tomb of Jesus is correct or not is of no concern to me, or I could state with much certainty, the majority of the rest of the folks in this country. But for him to belittle the entire species of women is carrying his religious fervor much to far. I believe Rev Buckley needs to apologize as quickly as possible, I would think he wouldn't want this smear on his soul when he has to approach the Pearly Gates, after all who knows, Maybe St Peter is a woman....?

Well, I read it differently and I am a woman, birthed by a woman, and mother to a girl. I feel he is right. I will tell my boys not to chase after girls either. I will tell my girl not to be a tease, one to engage a man who wants to play games. I hope both my daughter and son meet and marry someone worthy of their heart and soul, not a playboy or playgirl. My daughter is worth courting, and my son is worth respecting. So, it seems to me, when I read this statement, that chasing a girl is a demeaning way to treat a woman and I find he esteems women to the place of a princess or a queen, one you go out of your way to care for. -Mary Robin
