Tell You What--We need a Ventura Police Museum
Walking around downtown Ventura there are a great many nice businesses and points of interest. It seems that each year Main Street Ventura gets better. Sipping a latte at a downtown coffee shop side walk table I started to think that maybe we need a Ventura Police Museum. We have a small firehouse museum in Ventura to honor the brave men and woman who battle fires long ago and today. But, maybe we need a museum to give credit to our law enforcement personnel. We have a store-front police sub-station in the downtown on California Street and maybe that could be used to house a small museum. It should be more than some old black and white pictures of policemen in uniform and a collection of handcuffs. It should highlight some of the best cases of the past and the actions of our brave men in blue. It would become a point of interest and a focal point for honoring those who keep the watch and make our streets safe. I am sure some local support could be found for such a museum.

Richard, look again there is no sub-station on California street. What would the police museum contain, copies of traffic tickets, used shells from their guns, empty mace cans, old billy clubs? Rellis Smith
