A fellow came up to me and said he followed my articles at YourHub. He then asked what my newest "crazy idea of the week" was. He's right, many of my writings do suggest some oddball things. What's my idea for this week? A movie. Long ago the city of San Diego made a bad horror movie that was destined to become a cult classic. The film is so bad, its funny, Even the title is a riot: "
The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes."
Ojai should use this idea and make a movie of her own. I even have a subject and name for the project:
Char-Man: The Movie.
The famed ghost of Creek Road is perhaps the best known of Ventura County's ghosts. It would be fun to bring the legend to life. The movie would first tell the origins of Char-Man. Filmed in black and white, it would be set in the early 1950s with hot rods, short shorts, duck tails, leather jackets, and bee bop music. Maybe a 1950's style ballad could be commissioned and performed by a local band. The second part, and the longer part, would be filmed in color and set in the present day as the ghost of Char-Man returns to the Ojai Valley to exact revenge on the teen-aged grandchildren of those responsible for his fiery death long ago.
Local locations could be used in the project like Nordhoff High School, the Nordhoff Cemetery, the Arcade, Libby Park and Creek Road. The world premier could be held in Ojai at the movie house.
Ojai is filled with enough actors and film students. Brooks Institute might help too and maybe a few well-known Ojai residents might pitch in with a small appearance or two. It would be in good fun with local political leaders taking a pie in the face (I would pay to see this). All the profits from the film could go for local charities. How ever it turns out, it's got to be better than "
The Blair Witch Project" that came out a few years ago.
