CSUCI Choir holding open auditions
Contributed by: Lisa Marie Ricapito on 1/4/2008

Love to sing? You're not alone. Step out of the shower and on to the stage with the Cal State Channel Islands Choir!

The Cal State Channel Islands Choir is a class that is offered as a part of the University's Performing Arts Program. The choir is not only open to CSUCI students and staff, but the community as well. We are a diverse group with something wonderful in common - a passion for singing.

The choir will be holding auditions for its spring semester performance of "Dona Nobis Pacem", a cantata written by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Dona Nobis Pacem pairs powerful poetry with intensely expressive music. William's sources for the piece were the Civil War poetry of Walt Whitman, a speech by British parliamentarian John Bright, and the Bible. Overarching the poetry is the ancient prayer "Dona nobis pacem" - "Give us peace."

Auditions will be held Monday, January 14th at 7 PM at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Camarillo. (2304 Antonio Avenue)

For more information, please visit the choir's website at choir.csuci.edu. If you are interested in joining us, please contact instructor KuanFen Liu at (805) 643-8430.
