NEW ADMINISTRATORS JOIN RIO SCHOOL DISTRICT
Veteran managers bring experience, passion to district's mission
OXNARD, Calif.-The Rio School District's staff has recently grown by three. Three new administrators are filling key positions to better serve the nearly 4,200 students in the district. Angela Randolph is the district's new Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services; Jim Bakos is the new Director of Facilities and Dawn O'Neill has become Director of Special Projects.
"These three individuals not only bring a great deal of experience to the district but a strong commitment to educate the whole child and a passion to help all children reach their full potential. We are excited to bring them on board," said Sherianne Cotterell, Rio School District, superintendent.
Prior to working at Rio, Randolph was the Director of Federal Programs in the Alhambra School District in the state of Arizona. She spent eight years as a classroom teacher, four years as an adjunct instructor and 13 years as a school district administrator. As the district's Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services, she leads the Educational Services Division in the planning, development, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of instructional programs for all preschool through eighth-grade students under the supervision of Superintendent Cotterell.
Bakos was previously the Maintenance and Operations Manager for the Lompoc Unified School District. For the past 25 years, he has worked in civil engineering, construction, and facility management for the California Department of Education and the United States Air Force. He is responsible for the implementation of the facilities and maintenance, custodial, and transportation programs of the district.
With 28 years of experience in teaching and administrative positions, O'Neill brings a great deal of expertise to the Director of Special Projects position. Before coming to Rio, she worked as a Vice Principal in the San Bernardino City Unified School District; she also provided district-wide staff development. In her new position, O'Neill oversees various components of the district's educational programs, including programs for English Language Learners, Reading First, summer school, Gifted and Talented Education, and professional development related to these programs.
The Rio School District encompasses six elementary and two middle schools. There are close to 4,200 students in the district, which serves the unincorporated community of El Rio, the RiverPark development and portions of the city of Oxnard.
