Ventura Music Festival Unveils 40 Pieces of Art!

FABULOUS 40! ART UNVIELED ON DECEMBER 6 IN UNPRESCEDENTED SHOWING FOR 2008 VENTURA MUSIC FESTIVAL

From vibrant color and bold brushstrokes to amazing sculpture and assemblage presentations, 2008 art works are exceptional jewels.

Forty local Ventura County artists were among those in attendance to reveal their art in a dramatic unveiling announced by James Graca, an artist and board member of the Ventura Music Festival, who helped to organize this year's art celebration for the Ventura Music Festival

Graca spent several months securing artists to participate in the Ventura Music Festival arts celebration. In past years, the festival has put forth a call to artists who submit a proposal for art representing the festival theme. This year, the process was opened to all Ventura County artists.

"We had an outstanding response from artists," Graca says. "Everyone was very excited to participate and we are thrilled to have an unprecedented 40 pieces of art this year. Just about all artists created new, original pieces that fit the tone and emotion of this season's theme, 'Appassionata.'"

"We have a sensational art committee who decided early on to do something very different and grand. I think we accomplished what we set out to do as the artwork was way beyond our expectations," Graca says. "The art absolutely runs the gamut from traditional, to impressionistic, expressionistic, mixed media, sculpture, abstract, and more. There is a piece of art for everyone's tastes. It truly is an incredible show."

"The unveiling of 40 pieces of art was amazing...so many beautiful pieces, each reflecting the passion of each individual artist," says Cheryl Heitmann, executive director of the Ventura Music Festival. "Jim is right, there is something for everyone to fall in love with."

All 40 art pieces will be available for purchase at the annual art auction in March 2008. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the Ventura Music Festival, a non-profit organization. The art auction represents its largest fundraiser of the year, providing much needed funds to keep its many educational and concert programs available for the community.

The gallery of art will rotate for exclusive showings at numerous galleries throughout Ventura County prior to the auction in March.
