They are all "My Fair Lady's"

The musical "My Fair Lady" opens November 2nd at Oceanview Pavilion's "Theater by the Beach" in Port Hueneme. The run will continue, week-ends, through November 25th. Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Pavilion is located at 575 E Surfside Dr., Port Hueneme and is fully handicap accessible.

In the audience on November 3rd will be 50 very special guests of Oceanview Pavilion; young ladies from the Ventura Boys and Girls Club.

This 1964 Academy Award winning classic was adapted from George Bernard Shaw's play and Gabrial Pascal's motion picture "Pygmalion". Book and Lyric's by Alan Jay Lerner and Music by Frederick Loewe. "The story of a Cockney flower girl who aspires to be a Lady in a flower shop is a perfect tie in to our self esteem and self respect program called Smart Girls, said Nancy Gregg, Director of Development Boys and Girls Club of Ventura.

Oceanview Pavilion has a tradition of bringing the thrill of live theater to the children of Ventura County. In August, 25 youngsters were guests, for their last production "Big River".

For most of the children, My Fair Lady will be their first taste of what Shakespeare called, "The Noblest of Professions". Nothing excels the spoken word, unless you add singing and dancing, that of course adds frosting to the cake.

Soprano Claire Culver stars as Eliza Doolittle with Gary Best playing the pompous Henry Higgins. Noah Skulety is Freddy Eynsford-Hill her constant suitor and Hux Reid is the irrepressible Alfred Doolittle. Ron Rowe rounds out the cast of principles, as the ever noble, Colonel Pickering.

Peter Crane is the director of this large cast of over thirty professional and amateur actors, singers and dancers. Professionally choreographed this show is outstanding "said Crane" The "Theatre by the Beach" in- house orchestra will accompany the performers. Mr. Crane has a long list of credits to his name and if you enjoyed South Pacific, Show Boat and Big River, you will not want to miss his "My Fair Lady".
