Performances To Grow On will present the world famous Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre at the Fred Kavli Theatre, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks on Sat. Dec. 1 @ 7 p.m. Reserved tickets are $35 and $25 for adults and $20 and $15 for children.
This acclaimed production is a family-oriented blend of the unique comedy of Gregory Popovich and the extraordinary talents of his performing pets. Each of the shows 15 cats and 10 dogs were once strays living in animal shelters. Now the rescued pets love to show off on stage by performing a variety of stunts and skits you have to see to believe! Audiences will be delighted to see the European style clowns, amazing juggling and balancing acts, and of course, the very talented pets.
A world-champion juggler, Popovich dazzles audiences with his well-honed skills using fruit, batons and just about anything else he can toss into the air. Originally from Russia, Popovich was once part of the Moscow Circus.
Popovich's equally talented daughter, Anastasie, is also featured throughout the show, demonstrating her abilities with juggling, hula hoops and an eye-catching dance routine to "Putting on the Ritz," complete with top hat and cane.
But the real star of Pet Comedy Theater is the cast of 15 cats and eight dogs, all of whom were rescued from shelters across the country. In addition to the numerous "tricks" they perform, several dogs also serve as assistants throughout the show - bringing out and retrieving the various props used onstage.
Not to be outdone by their canine counterparts, the feline performers are highlighted in a segment of the show in which they jump hurdles, jump through hoops and even make a death-defying plunge from far above the stage.
Full of surprises, the family-friendly experience takes the audience on a train ride, a day at school, a visit to the circus and much more. Between acts, short films are played that include clips of funny animal pictures, Popovich's dedication to pet rescue and appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
