ACTOR LANE DAVIES HOSTS LOCAL DICKENS RADIO DRAMA WORLDWIDE
Actor Lane Davies is the celebrity guest host for the Every Now and Then Theatre's 18th year radio drama of Charles Dickens' "Christmas Carol- A Ghost Story." Goldcoast Broadcasting's AM 1520 KVTA will broadcast the locally produced ghost story and stream it over their website at kvta.com, commercial free, on Monday December 24th at 12pm, 5pm and 10pm and on Tuesday December 25th at 7am. British born Keith Hurt from Camarillo stars as crabby curmudgeon Ebenezer Scrooge
Lane Davies is familiar to audiences from many TV shows including "Lois and Clark," "3rd Rock from the Sun," "The Practice," "Scrubs," and TV soaps including "Santa Barbara," and "General Hospital." As Artistic Director for the Santa Susana Repertory Company, Lane has produced and or directed more than 30 productions. As celebrity radio host, Davies will introduce a countywide cast showcasing top local actors, community notables, students and teachers. The challenge is that cast and crew are allowed one rehearsal, then perform.
The Dickens tale is adapted for broadcast and co-Directed by Linda Stiegler of Thousand Oaks and theatre troupe founder James Wortman of Ventura. Sound Engineering is by David Tuomi from Thousand Oaks. "Christmas Carol- A Ghost Story" is made possible with resource donations from Debt and Credit Advisors in Camarillo for script printing, Conejo Valley Community Church for performance space, Barkerductions in Ventura for equipment, and AM 1520 KVTA for air time.
Since entering radio drama competitions in 2003, The Every Now and Then Theatre now tallies 14 awards-three national and 11 international awards-- for radio entertainment. Celeb hosts for those shows were Cheryl Ladd, Charlene Tilton, Jamie Farr, Tim Conway and Stephanie Zimbalist.
This year's countywide 'Carol cast showcases Arryck Adams, Bob Allen, Steve Carlson, Kuba Chyla, Bob Decker, Jim Diderrich, Judy Diderrich, Barbara Dipoma, Gordon Durich, Keith Hurt, Ken Johnson, Shawn W. Lanz, Vivien Latham, Dr. Ray Mastrovito, Ruth Morgan, Sophia Morgan, Alec Nave´, Vanessa Orr, Debbie Price, Penny Puente, Mark Andrew Reyes, Ron Rowe, Zach Schultz, Linda M. Stiegler, Alex Viecco, Nicolas Viecco and James Wortman. Live sound effects are performed by student Jake Price and various cast members.
2007 marks the 164th year of Charles Dickens self-publishing, "A Christmas Carol- A Ghost Story in Four Staves." Dickens' publisher initially rejected the story fearing it would not sell. The Every Now and Then Theatre maintains a webpage at the website hosted for all legitimate Ventura County live theatre groups at www.barkerductions.com.
