VCS Raises Fun With The Emporer's New Clothes

The Ventura Charter School of Arts and Global Education plans to raise funds and "fun" with their upcoming performances of The Emporer's New Clothes. In this family oriented comedy, the emporer learns a lesson or two about leadership from his townspeople. A delightful cast is headed by 7th grader Joey Santia as the emporer, and the production promises to offer an entertaining evening for all audience members. A classic tale, this version is modernized; yet the original material and storyline remain true, appealing to young and old alike.

Performances by VCS middle school students will be presented on January 10, 11, 12 at 7 PM in the De Anza Middle School auditorium. Tickets, available at the door, are $3/children and $5/adults. Doors open at 6:30.

Funds raised by this project will help the Ventura Charter middle school students pay for their end-of-the-year field trip. Established in 2006, VCS is a public, K-8, charter school which is housed on the campus of De Anza Middle School in the city of Ventura. The school's focus is arts and global education in an alternative setting. Interactive and hands-on projects are woven into and throughout the curriculum; The Emporer's New Clothes is the middle school's first play performance and is under the direction of Stefoni Burg.
