Lucky is one lucky dog... And he's also a very special dog!
Traffic and dogs don't mix, as Lucky was to find out. Hit in traffic, he was taken to a local shelter and although nothing was broken, he suffered neurological damage to his front right leg. Unable to control his paw, he became a tri-pede as he began to 'walk over' his paw.
BARK! was called and agreed to rescue Lucky, then arranged to have his condition seen to. The end result was an amputation, but this never slowed Lucky down... in fact, he mentally was "there" before he actually lost the front leg. He runs around and keeps up with all the other dogs - even faster now that he's not being slowed down by a leg that wasn't functioning!
Lucky's personality is one that thrives with attention... he would be an absolutely fantastic dog for a family. In fact, he'd also make a great therapy dog as well.
While he's not very friendly with cats, he extremely loves and thoroughly enjoys his belly being rubbed. Intelligent, he's learned quite a few commands in a short time, including "High Five".
Lucky really has a lot of love to give to the right family. He doesn't suffer from a lack of self-esteem like many shelter rescues do. You'd never know he was 'motor-scootering' on three legs for sure!!
His coat is like pure silk and luxurious to boot! He's one of those 'jack-of-all-trades' dogs... Ready for a walk, ready for some loving, ready to just sit quietly aside of you as you watch TV and ready to simply adore you wit those eyes of his and heart as big as Montana!
